Overview
Bahrain is one of the GCC countries listed in the Wafid system. Many Bahrain employment visas for Indian nationals require a GCC-approved medical in India before travel.
Requirements can change, so always follow the latest instruction from your employer, sponsor or recruitment agency.
Visa categories & medical
- Employment visas commonly require the pre-departure medical.
- Family visa requirements vary by sponsor.
- A further medical may be required after arrival for residency.
Tips for Bahrain applicants
- Choose the city nearest to you – the result is valid irrespective of the Indian city.
- Make sure the position on your form matches your visa.
- Share your travel timeline so we can plan the medical date.
What the medical usually includes
The GCC pre-departure medical typically includes a general physical examination, chest X-ray, blood tests (for example HIV, hepatitis B and C, syphilis and blood group), urine and sometimes stool tests, and a pregnancy test for women. The exact tests are set by GCC standards and the medical centre. Results are decided only by the medical centre.
