Overview
The UAE is listed as a destination country in the Wafid system. Whether you need a pre-departure GCC medical in India depends on your visa category and the instructions given by your employer or sponsor – many UAE residence visas also require a separate medical test after arrival in the UAE.
If your employer, agency or visa documents ask for a GAMCA / Wafid medical from India, we can help you book the appointment at a suitable centre.
Visa categories & medical
- Always confirm with your employer or sponsor whether a pre-departure medical is required for your specific UAE visa.
- A UAE in-country medical (after arrival) is a separate process and is not something we book.
- Family visa requirements differ by emirate and sponsor – check with your sponsor first.
Tips for UAE applicants
- Do not book a pre-departure medical unless it has been asked for – it costs time and money.
- Keep a copy of the employer’s instruction mentioning the medical requirement.
- Use the same passport you will travel on.
What the medical usually includes
The GCC pre-departure medical typically includes a general physical examination, chest X-ray, blood tests (for example HIV, hepatitis B and C, syphilis and blood group), urine and sometimes stool tests, and a pregnancy test for women. The exact tests are set by GCC standards and the medical centre. Results are decided only by the medical centre.
