Overview
Oman generally requires Indian workers to complete a GCC-approved medical in India before travelling on an employment visa. The appointment is booked through the Wafid system.
Oman also has a medical step after arrival for residence cards, so keep all your reports and slips safely.
Visa categories & medical
- Employment visas usually require the pre-departure Wafid medical.
- Family joining visas may require it depending on sponsor instructions.
- Domestic workers follow the employment-visa process.
Tips for Oman applicants
- Book once your employer confirms your visa is in process.
- Carry passport-size photographs in case the centre asks for them.
- Keep your WhatsApp active for slip delivery.
What the medical usually includes
The GCC pre-departure medical typically includes a general physical examination, chest X-ray, blood tests (for example HIV, hepatitis B and C, syphilis and blood group), urine and sometimes stool tests, and a pregnancy test for women. The exact tests are set by GCC standards and the medical centre. Results are decided only by the medical centre.
