Overview
Saudi Arabia is the largest Gulf destination for Indian workers. For most Saudi employment visas issued to Indian nationals, a GCC-approved medical examination booked through the Wafid system must be completed in India before the visa can be stamped.
The medical report is linked to your passport number. That is why every detail you enter – name, passport number, date of birth – must match your passport exactly.
Visa categories & medical
- Work visas (including drivers, technicians, labourers and professionals) usually require the Wafid medical before visa stamping.
- Family and dependant visas may also require a medical – your sponsor or agency will confirm.
- Domestic-worker (house driver, house maid) visas generally follow the same medical process.
Tips for Saudi Arabia applicants
- Book only after you have your visa details or offer letter, because the report has limited validity.
- Keep your visa copy or offer letter handy – the job title in our form should match it.
- Inform your agency once your medical is complete so they can proceed with stamping.
What the medical usually includes
The GCC pre-departure medical typically includes a general physical examination, chest X-ray, blood tests (for example HIV, hepatitis B and C, syphilis and blood group), urine and sometimes stool tests, and a pregnancy test for women. The exact tests are set by GCC standards and the medical centre. Results are decided only by the medical centre.
